Village Series

Tracing the roots of nomadic Anatolian and Central Asian life, the Village Series explores the physical and spiritual geography of rural sanctuaries. Working with raw cloth, natural cotton, embroidery, and hand constructed surfaces, the artworks bring into view the meeting points of personal memory and collective remembrance, the traces carried through the body and everyday rituals, and the symbols that have transformed across generations to reach the present.

A Shaman Village on the Steppe

"In our village, all beings both abstract and tangible live together in balance and harmony. No blood is ever shed here; life springs from the generosity of the earth, and nourishment is drawn directly from the soil. We sit side by side with animals at the table and share what the land provides. No living creature stands above another. Our soldiers are strong. But their strength lies not in destruction, but in their training to carry and protect the ancient knowledge passed down from our ancestors. They are guardians of wisdom and of order. This village is shaped by a deep sense of unity: a place where humans and nature, the living and the non-living, the past and the future exist as one. This unity gives life its meaning and continuity; it serves not only as a guide from the past, but also as a path to the future."
